Repurposing Raw Materials: What Difference Does it Make?

The Hill Country is a beautiful place to live. The reality, though, is that we’re surrounded by rock. It’s everywhere from the breathtaking landscape to the soil where the foundation of your next home will be.

When we first started Texas Rock Milling, we decided to create a milling business that did things differently. You see, traditional methods of handling the rock and limestone included using excavators to remove rock, break it down, and then service providers would haul away the rock barriers to make way to import new materials.

We decided we would repurpose raw materials instead of hauling them off.

This process isn’t common because it requires a fleet of state-of-the-art milling equipment and expertise. You may be wondering why we would go to such great lengths to repurpose raw materials rather than stick to the norm.

The answer: Because it’s worth it! Here’s why:

1) It Makes a Difference in Transportation Costs.

Typically, you would spend a large portion of your excavation budget on hauling away rock barriers and then spend even more on transporting the new materials back. Investing in the proper equipment to repurpose raw materials on-site avoids expensive haul-off and importation transportation costs.

2) It Utilizes the Natural Resources at Your Disposal.

While many view these elements as barriers, we see them as assets. The rocks can be milled on-site to create the base for your home and roads. Trees and other vegetation can be turned into mulch for landscaping.

Rather than pay to haul these off, we prefer to use them to your advantage.

3) It Reduces Your Overall Project Costs.

We can help you reduce waste and save money by avoiding hauling-off raw materials and importing new materials. Excavation companies are typically used to this process, but paying for it can be costly. We prefer to avoid those unnecessary expenses and pass the savings on to you!

4) It Returns Nutrients Back Into the Soil.

As a part of our process, we can clear your land of brush and unwanted trees. Those raw materials can be repurposed back into the soil in creative ways or be used as mulch for landscaping. This process returns the nutrients back into the soil rather than discarding them.

5) It Can Protect Your Property.

The repurposed raw material can be used for backfill, the base of your new home, and creating roads. But it can also be repurposed to protect your property from future erosion by grading your yard.

Our process goes beyond the “industry standard.” We want to capture the best of both worlds by minimizing the cost of your project AND reusing the existing materials at your disposal. We know you’ll notice the Texas Rock Milling difference!
